Hello!
On 25 March 2025, we will open our Super Gendermarket. We, that is Gil&Toni and the team. And the Super Gendermarket? It is a fine little soup we have been cooking for quite some time now. One that has already seen many different vegetables and spices along the way.
Our mission? Gender in teaching. If that does not ring a bell yet, you are first of all not alone and second of all very welcome.
The term gender alone often brings up a rather mixed bag of feelings, ranging from annoyance to moral grandstanding. Nobody needs that, and you will not find it here. What you will find is plenty of positive and delicious potential that is absolutely worth exploring.
Our goal is to offer bite sized pieces and a growing selection of resources that inform, inspire and spark curiosity. We want to encourage you to look around, discover more and dive deeper into the topic. In the university context and beyond.
After all, who wants to eat plain bread every day when there is so much more out there. There are all kinds of delights for more justice. Juicy apples of insight, sweet best practice cocktail cherries, spicy FAQ mustard, handy language onions and colourful sprinkles of gender competence.
That is why we have gathered the most important resources on gender basics, gender sensitive communication and gender in teaching on our website – easy to digest and deliciously prepared.
Why?
Because we want to foster openness toward all colours, shapes and flavours.
And we mean openness in the most fundamental sense.
We want to open our metaphorical Super Gendermarket just as much as the discourse around the topic. We want to invite all the different people with diverse opinions on gender and gender competence, as well as different ideas of family, society and ways of living, and meet their individual needs.
Because we believe that a positive coexistence means that many different things can exist at the same time. Not just side by side on separate shelves, but ideally in a relaxed, humorous, understanding, informed and open dialogue.
From this idea, and very concretely from the Professorinnenprogramm (PPPII), the Gil&Toni project was born. What was originally meant to be a simple didactic toolbox for gender sensitive teaching grew into a larger and more colourful range of offerings that are easy and practical to use.
Because teaching in a gender sensitive way requires a certain level of gender competence. We believe that developing gender competence, as well as beginning and continuing self reflection, forms the foundation for gender sensitive teaching.
In short: It is cool to be kind.
Those who teach in a gender sensitive way, who are informed and who move openly in society, help reduce injustice, support personal development and enable more successful learning and living. And they help ensure that each person’s uniqueness is recognised and valued.
We felt that none of this is minor. These are essentials for everyday life.
So the dusty toolbox was not enough, and we went looking for a lively market with truly good offerings.
That is why we are proudly presenting our Gil&Toni Super Gendermarket.
We are delighted if our tasty snacks find their way into your everyday life or if you simply enjoy browsing.
There is no obligation to buy and no surveillance cameras. Take what you like, leave what does not fit just yet.
In the coming weeks, we will introduce one product at a time, each representing an aspect of this field. We will talk to people who have already found a favourite product or who are not quite sure what to make of something.
Gil&Toni is a living space that grows and evolves. We launch new products and formats and stay curious. Especially about you.

See you in the Market!
