When discussing gender equality between women and men, the term “gender” often comes up. But what exactly is meant by gender, and where are the intersections with gender equality? In this short workshop, you will receive answers to these questions as well as insights into the most important aspects and dimensions of the topic of gender. You will also learn which gender stereotypes exist, what the so-called gender bias is all about, and why gender equality has still not been achieved. Together with your fellow students, you will have the opportunity to reflect on and discuss these topics in an appreciative and respectful environment. The workshop lasts 120 minutes and takes place online via Zoom.

Whether in the media, in private life, or at universities, gender-sensitive language is currently being widely discussed. HM has also addressed the topic and published a guideline on gender-sensitive language in September 2022. This short workshop is a supporting offer that helps you with questions about and the practical implementation of gender-sensitive language. The workshop provides information on the most important terms as well as the advantages and disadvantages of gender sensitivity in language. You will receive practical tips and exercises for your everyday life at the university and will also have space within the workshop for shared reflection and exchange. The workshop lasts 120 minutes and takes place online via Zoom.

Gender does not only influence career choices, application processes, or promotion opportunities; it is also important in higher education to consider gender and develop sensitivity to it. In this workshop, you will learn how the so-called gender bias affects lectures and seminars and which dynamics can arise from it. You will gain basic knowledge about gender in teaching from a student perspective and reflect on your own role. Together with your fellow students, you will collect ideas on how everyday study life can be made more gender-sensitive and will have space for a respectful exchange on the topic. The workshop lasts 120 minutes and takes place online via Zoom.
